The first meeting of the working group for the Regional Species Action Plans for bear and wolf was held in Brasov, with representatives from the National Forest Research-Development Institute, Vrancea Environmental Agency and the Association for the Conservation of Biological Diversity.
The working group outlined the contents of the RSAPs, established how the projects LIFE Connect Carpathians, LIFE for Bear and WOLFLIFE will support common objectives and identified the need to harmonise the objectives of national and regional action plans.
The need for a coalition of organisations and specialists to form a centralised group for large carnivores within Romania was recognised. This national large carnivore group would then be able to act as a source of knowledge and advice to the public and private sectors, ensuring advice was reliable, current and consistent. More news on this group will follow shortly.
