FFI protects threatened species and ecosystems worldwide, choosing solutions that are sustainable, based on sound science and take account of human needs. Operating in more than 40 countries worldwide – mainly in the developing world – FFI saves species from extinction and habitats from destruction, while improving the livelihoods of local people. Founded in 1903, FFI is the world’s longest established international conservation body and a registered charity.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change is the governmental public institution with responsibility for: implementation of governmental politics in the environmental field; coordination of activities related to nature protection conservation of biological diversity, natural habitats, wild flora and fauna for their sustainable use; approval of management plans of natural protected areas; supervising species and habitat actions and action plans; coordination of protected areas administrators and custodians activities; development and good administration of national network of natural protected areas; and issuing regulatory acts for developments projects and plans.

Romanian Gendarmerie is the State’s specialized institution, with military status, within the Ministry of Administration and Interior which, according to the law, exercises its authority on protection of public order and safety, citizens’ rights and fundamental liberties, public and private property, crime prevention and detection and other infringements of laws into force, as well as protection of the State’s fundamental institutions and countering of terrorist acts.
Together with other State competent institutions, the Romanian Gendarmerie is responsible for surveillance, control and protection assurance of wild animals, forest and protected areas by specific measures of preventing and countering any infringements of the legal provisions.

Asociatia Zarand aims to implement projects that contribute to biodiversity conservation and provide sustainable livelihood alternatives for local communities. Asociatia Zarand seeks to encourage and facilitate the collaboration between environmental authorities, environmental experts, administrators of protected areas, beneficiaries of investment projects, NGOs and local communities, in order to consolidate a functional mechanism between environmental protection and local development.
